The dominating central defender has committed to another year at the club.
Newell’s Old Boys have announced that Cristian Lema has signed a new deal at the club that will see him play for the rojinegro until the end of 2022.
After a brief stint at Newell’s in 2010-2011, the man from Puerto Madryn rejoined the club in 2019 and became an integral part of the team.
His performances in 2019-2020 earned him a transfer to Saudi Arabia but he returned once again to Newell’s after the move to Damac FC proved unsuccessful.
31-year-old Lema has played 63 games for Newell’s in total, scoring 6 goals, and has also turned out for Benfica and Peñarol amongst others. He will begin pre-season training with the rest of the squad on Tuesday in Rosario.
Welcome back again, Sicario!
