Newell’s Old Boys launch new 2021-22 shirt

The Umbro-made jersey is a tribute to the club’s title win in 1991 under Marcelo Bielsa.

Newell’s Old Boys has revealed its new shirt for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The red and black Umbro design is offered initially without a sponsor on the front and is a tribute shirt to the Newell’s side of 1991 who won the Argentine Championship at La Bombonera, the home of Boca Juniors.

Close-ups of the shirt reveal a worn look and a number of slogans, including “Sangre Leprosa”, or “Leper Blood” in English. The collar mirrors the famous Yamaha shirt worn by players like Tata Martino and Mauricio Pochettino in that 1991 season while the sleeves are a classic Umbro finish, featuring their famous diamond icon. The back features a sponsor: “Grupo Olio”.

The new Newell’s Old Boys shirt is now available to purchase from our store.
