25-year-old midfielder leaves Newell’s after over a decade at the club in total.
Newell’s Old Boys have confirmed the departure of Braian Rivero who has signed for Defensa y Justicia. The current Copa Sudamericana holders have purchased 50% of Rivero’s contract.
“El Kiwi” joined the Newell’s youth academy in 2010 before making his professional debut for the club in 2015. In total, between 2015 and 2021, he played 76 times for the club.
In 2020, he was sent on loan to Independiente del Valle in Ecuador where he played Copa Libertadores football. He provided an assist in a huge 5-0 win for IDV over Brazilian giants Flamengo in September 2020.
Rivero joins Matías Orihuela, Mauro Formica, Julián Marcioni and Manuel Llano in leaving Newell’s in recent weeks as new manager Fernando Gamboa, supported by Director of Football Lucas Bernardi, seeks to build a new team.
Best of luck for the future, Kiwi!
