Pablo Sabbag becomes Gamboa’s third signing at Newell’s

24-year-old Colombian forward joins The Lepers on loan from Estudiantes.

Newell’s Old Boys have confirmed the signing of Pablo Sabbag on loan from Estudiantes. The Colombian is a forward who made his mark at Deportivo Cali before loan spells at La Equidad (Colombia) and Estudiantes of Argentina where he scored 1 goal in 8 appearances (mostly from the bench) in 2021.

He briefly spent some time in Europe in 2018-19 with Portuguese First Division side C.D. Tondela, scoring a single goal in 7 appearances.

Sabbag becomes manager Fernando Gamboa’s third signing since taking the reins again at Newell’s after Juan Fernando Garro and Gabriel Compagnucci were acquired from Huracán and Tigre respectively.

The deal to bring the Colombian to Newell’s is a free 6-month loan deal until December 2021 with no option to purchase.
