Newell’s sign Djorkaeff Reasco from L.D.U. Quito

The 23-year-old exciting forward is an Ecuador international and a son of former Newell’s defender Néicer.

Djorkaeff Reasco has arrived in Rosario and signed with Newell’s Old Boys.

The talented attacker made his debut for L.D.U. Quito in 2016 and has spent his entire career at the club except for a loan spell with Dorados de Sinaloa in Mexico in 2020.

Djorkaeff, named after legendary French midfielder Youri, only turned 23 in January. He has scored 11 goals in 52 career appearances and has played for his country twice. He was handed his debut by Gustavo Alfaro in a 2-3 friendly win away to Tata Martino’s Mexico in October 2021. Appearing off the bench, Djorkaeff provided an assist in a 25-minute cameo. He also started in a World Cup Qualifier against Venezuela in November.

Reasco becomes the second player from his family to play for Newell’s. His father Néicer played 57 times for Ecuador, including at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and spent a short loan spell with La Lepra in 2001, playing 11 times.

Djorkaeff has signed a 2-year contract at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa with Newell’s buying 50% of his contract rights for a reported fee of $1.2 million.

Welcome, Djorkaeff!
