Newell’s Old Boys launch pink shirt for breast cancer awareness

Umbro Argentina and Newell’s Old Boys have launched a new alternative Newell’s Old Boys in pink for breast cancer awareness.

The shirt went on pre-sale earlier this week in Rosario and sold out in record time.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month globally.

On the lower right, the club slogan “No traten de entenderlo” (Don’t try to understand it) is printed alongside the year in which the club was founded (1903), while on the back the words “El más grande del interior” can be found. This refers to Newell’s status as the biggest club outside the capital Buenos Aires.

This is the second year running in which Newell’s have launched a pink shirt for breast cancer awareness. Although it’s not clear yet if the new one will be worn by the players for a match, they did wear last year’s pink shirt in a draw with Banfield.

A number of other clubs in Argentina, including Argentinos Juniors, also launched pink shirts for breast cancer awareness in 2019.
