The new red kit is a tribute to the 1992 team who were champions 30 years ago
Newell’s Old Boys have launched a new 3rd shirt which pays tribute to the 1992 championship win under legendary coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The red shirt by Italian manufacturers Givova features the slogan “La vigencia de una escuela” on the back – a nod to the club’s famous academy and origins as a school in Rosario at the end of the 1800s.

Half of the shirt is all-red while the other half has lettering in the background that alludes to many of the highlights of that 1992 season when Newell’s finished as champions. It has the famous date of the Clásico win when Bielsa fielded a youth team against Central (8th of March 1992) and also the number of games played (19) and games won (11).
The shirt was revealed by members of that 1992 team, including Tata Martino, in a video and series of photos released by the club last week.

The new Newell’s 3rd shirt will go on sale in Argentina this week and it will be available to buy from this website for global delivery in a few weeks.
The team are likely to wear the shirt in upcoming games, starting with Monday night’s home game against Patronato.
