The 22-year-old midfielder joins on-loan from River Plate.
Cristian Ferreira has joined Newell’s Old Boys until the end of 2023. The River Plate academy product has been a serial winner in his short career so far, claiming multiple Copa Argentinas and the Copa Libertadores with River. In 2021, he played on-loan with Colón and won the Copa de la Liga under Eduardo Domínguez.
Ferreira is a central midfielder with an eye for goal. His style of play is not dissimilar to Nicolás Castro, whose transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt recently broke down, in terms of late arrivals into the box, an ability to retain possession and a precise long shot. Hailing from Córdoba, he has scored 9 goals in a total of 72 games in his career thus far.
The deal to bring Ferreira to Newell’s is an 18-month loan contract costing $200,000 up front with a purchase option set at $2,000,000.
Welcome to Newell’s, Cristian!
