Ramiro Macagno joins Newell’s Old Boys on a permanent deal

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was highly impressive during a loan spell at La Lepra in 2020.

Newell’s Old Boys have announced that goalkeeper Ramiro Macagno will return to the club on a permanent deal. They agreed to buy 50% of his contractual rights from Atlético de Rafaela for $315,000 after he put in a number of outstanding performances while deputising for the injured Alan Aguerre.

Macagno has signed for Newell’s until December 2023 and is likely to challenge Aguerre for the number one spot. Aguerre recently returned from injury and is fit and ready to play for the rojinegro in the 2021 Copa de la Liga which gets underway on 12 February.
