Fernando Gamboa started his second spell as Newell’s Old Boys manager on Monday.
Newell’s Old Boys returned to pre-season training on Monday 14 June at the Jorge Griffa Training Centre.
Fernando Gamboa, who was appointed as the team’s new manager at the weekend, took training along with his backroom team.
There is no information on what the next season holds in terms of structure but it’s expected that a new tournament will begin in mid to late July. The championship will return to a regular league format instead of the Copa de la Liga cup-style competition.
The players that were present on Gamboa’s first day as coach were:
Goalkeepers: Alan Aguerre, Ramiro Macagno and Williams Barlasina.
Defenders: Cristian Lema, Yonathan Cabral, Manuel Capasso, Santiago Gentiletti, Milton Leyendeker, Facundo Mansilla and Juan Freytes.
Wing-backs: Franco Escobar, Mariano Bittolo, Franco Negri, Manuel Llano and Facundo Nadalín.
Midfielders: Pablo Pérez, Jerónimo Cacciabue, Juan Sforza, Braian Rivero, Fernando Belluschi, Mateo Maccari, Diego Calcaterra, Nicolás Castro, Ramiro Sordo, Guillermo Balzi and Denis Rodríguez.
Forwards: Maximiliano Rodríguez, Ignacio Scocco, Jonathan Cristaldo, Justo Giani, Alexis Rodríguez, Julián Marcioni, Luciano Cingolani and Francisco González.
Julián Fernández has agreed an extended break with the club while Enzo Cabrera is isolating due to COVID.
Mauro Formica, Matías Orihuela and Manuel Guanini have all left the club after their contracts were not renewed.
