21-year-old centre-back arrives from Envigado on a 4-year-contract.
Newell’s have announced the signing of the Colombian defender Carlos Ordoñez who arrives immediately from Envigado.
The 21-year-old came through the youth academy at Envigado and made his debut at the age of 18. He has played 40 times since then, scoring 2 goals. Ordoñez is seen as a potential replacement for his fellow Colombian Willer Ditta who was recently sold for profit to Cruz Azul after an impressive 18 months at Newell’s.
Ordoñez is a tall physical centre-back who reads the game accurately. He recently has been called up to represent his national team at U23 level as they prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Newell’s have purchased 80% contract rights and locked him in until 2027 at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa.
Welcome to Newell’s, Carlos!
