UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Mauro Icardi played for 79 minutes in PSG’s dramatic 2-1 win over Atalanta to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Although Icardi was taken off while the score was still 0-1, he’ll be hoping to play a major part in the semi-final against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
Lionel Messi looked dejected and frustrated as his Barcelona side were humiliated by Bayern Munich in a shocking 8-2 defeat. A Brazilian journalist claimed after the game that Messi has demanded to leave Barcelona in the wake of the result and Barcelona’s departure from the tournament.
UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE
Éver Banega impressed again as he helped Sevilla into another Europa League final, beating Manchester United 2-1 on 16 August. The midfield maestro’s last game for Sevilla will take place on Friday against either Inter or Shakhtar Donetsk.
UEFA YOUTH LEAGUE
Enzo Barrenechea came on as a substitute for Juventus u19s and played for half an hour in a 1-3 defeat to Real Madrid u19s in the UEFA Youth Club. The result of the match, which was originally scheduled for 4 March, sees Juventus eliminated from the competition.
RUSSIA
Ezequiel Ponce scored his first goal of the new Russian Premier League season, helping Spartak Moscow to a 2-0 win over Akhmat Grozny.
NETHERLANDS
Lisandro Martínez played a full half in Ajax’s 5-1 pre-season friendly win over Utrecht.
FRANCE
Cristian Battocchio scored the winner from a thunderous free-kick for Stade Brest in a 2-1 friendly win over Lille as their pre-season campaign continued.
