Newell’s Old Boys had a Jorge Recalde goal ruled out for the 3rd time in 4 matches as VAR intervened to stop La Lepra taking all 3 points at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa on Monday night.
Newell’s deserved the win but VAR decided once again that a marginal offside in the build-up to Recalde’s second-half header meant the goal shouldn’t have stood.
Gabriel Heinze and his players again expressed their anger at recent refereeing decisions against Newell’s after the match and this latest controversy meant La Lepra missed the chance to move closer towards a continental competition spot in this season’s Liga AFA.
