The 30-year old defender returns to the club where he made his debut.
Guillermo Ortiz is Gabriel Heinze’s first signing as manager of Newell’s Old Boys. The central defender, who started his career at the club when Heinze was still a player, has signed a 1-year loan contract with an option to buy.
Ortiz, who is from Rosario, debuted at Newell’s in 2012 and played 40 games for the club before moving onto Aldosivi, Colón, Atlético Tucumán and most recently, Godoy Cruz.
Ortiz was present for the first day of pre-season training on Monday so is already part of Heinze’s squad for the 2023 season.
Welcome back, Guillermo!
