UNITED STATES

Maxi Urruti returned to action with Montreal Impact after a month out. He was a late sub in the Impact’s 3-1 defeat to New England Revolution on 23 September and on 27 September he played the full game in another defeat, this time going down 4-1 to the New York Red Bulls.

Franco Escobar was the man of the match in Atlanta United’s 1-0 win over FC Dallas on 24 September but a consistent run of form still eludes the side as they followed up that win with a 2-0 defeat to the Chicago Fire in which Escobar played the full game at centre back.

It was also one win and one defeat for Milton Valenzuela who played a full game in the 2-1 win for Columbus Crew against Minnesota United on 24 September. He was rested a few days later against Toronto, appearing as a second half substitute in a 3-1 defeat.

MEXICO

Nahuél Guzmán was the man of the match in the Clásico Regio as his team Tigres came out on top against rivals Monterrey, winning 0-2 away.

UNAM Pumas who are coached by ex-Newell’s youth player Andrés Lillini dropped to fourth in the Liga MX after an amazing run of form at the start of the season. This week, they were beaten 2-0 by Club León and then fought for a 1-1 draw against Club Necaxa.

ECUADOR

Braian Rivero was an unused substitute in Independiente del Valle’s shock 4-1 defeat against Atlético Junior in the Copa Libertadores while he was a late substitute in the league on 27 September, coming off the bench with just minutes to go in the 1-1 draw against Barcelona SC.

Victor Figueroa scored again for Aucas but it wasn’t enough to give his side three points as they lost 3-2 away to ten-man Olmedo.
