In the second match of this year’s Copa de la Liga, Newell’s Old Boys achieved a 2-0 victory over Lanús at the Estadio Ciudad de Lanús.
Brian Aguirre and Juan Ignacio Ramírez were the scorers, either side of half-time, securing a second win for Mauricio Larriera’s side in Zone B of the Copa.
Despite several attempts from Lanús, Newell’s demonstrated a solid defense and effective attacking plays with the returning Éver Banega at the core of everything.
This match highlighted the strategic gameplay of Newell’s, now boasting a true number 9 in Ignacio ‘Colo’ Ramírez, and a solid defensive partnership of Glavinovich and Velázquez, in contributing to their early success in the tournament.
